	Walking Octopus - Gili islands, Indonesia NOHMALVAF 2023 Picture of the Month contests At the beginning of this year, my now-wife and I spent a week diving around the Gili islands and met this super friendly octopus while exploring a dive site famous for its resident turtles. The octopus was literally walking among the sleeping turtles stealing the show. I spent a week here last year perfecting the technique to photograph these not-so pelagic species. On a perfect, sunny day we made a trip to Princess Alice Bank, which is about a 4-hour boat ride from Pico island - and a well-known spot to dive with resident Mobula rays. During our second dive, this huge whale shark surprised us with a visit - it was my first whale shark encounter and I was blown away by it’s size.
