Pemuteran is a small village in the north western part of Bali, without any "must-see" attraction which would attract a lot of tourists. The real attractions are under water, and the first dive center on the shoreline was established back in 1991 by an Australian diver, Chris Brown, who previously had spent 2 years instructing and diving around Bali. For Chris the diving center is not about business, he tries to work together with the local fishermen (who used dynamite and cyanide in the past) and teach them how to protect their environment. He is proud of the results, the local people learnt how to live and work at the sea while they try to keep it clean and healthy. In 2009 he was joined by an English couple who now manage most of the day to day operations. They will give you a warm, friendly welcome and look after you organising your stay and diving schedule. And they are both dive instructors who can refresh your skills or take you to the next level if you wish.
Reef Seen Divers Resort has 8 two-person bungalows to accomodate their guests. For those who travel with family they can book rooms in the nearby resorts. The eco-bungalows are small but good quality, tidy stone buildings with Balinese style furniture, A/C, comfortable beds and really nice unique bathroom. The small terraces are in the beautiful garden, just a few steps away from the main building of the dive center. In this main building the guests will find the reception, the dive resort's office and the places where they can rinse and dry their equipment. This is the place to sit with have some drinks, snack or ice cream and fill in your log book or watch TV/DVD. The briefings take place at the huge dive site map. There is a beach front snack-bar where the guests can have breakfast which is included in the price of the room, or they can connect to the internet. In front of the diving center, directly at the sea there are some sunbeds and a small sandy beach for relaxation.
The center fills their own air tanks, and they have Scubapro, Aqualung and Mares rental equipment. They have a couple tanks with DIN valve and the majority with international. The crew takes care of the equipment, they assemble it, rinse it, bring to the boat and back- they do everything but diving.
Reef Seen Divers Resort works with three dive boats. The outrigger (jukung-style but much bigger) Reef Runner is ideal to go to the local dive spots, and the larger Reef Spirit is the boat for the Menjangan island trips. And Reef Nymph, a single engined speed boat capable for local and Menjangan dive/snorkelling trips. The guests do two dives during the Menjangan daily trips, between the dives the guests can have their lunch, with soft drinks and fruits- everything is included in the price. In the comfortable boat there is a place to lay and on the top of the boat a sun terrace for the surface interval or the one hour long boat ride.
