The world's deepest diving pool

The 40 meters deep pool will be opened in Italy next year.

According to the DIVE magazine work has started on a specially designed pool called Y-40 for dive training and free-diving in Montegrotto Terme, Padua, Italy. With a surface area of 20x18m the pool will have a maximum depth of 40m. The 4,300 cubic metres pool will include four caves for technical diving and will be maintained at a constant temperature of 33°C.


There will be dedicated spaces for training breath-hold diving and scuba diving, areas for photo shoots and a safe abyss for professional training. Y-40 is part of the 4-star Hotel Terme Millepini.

According to Emanuele Boaretto, designer and project manager 'Y-40, is unique in its field thanks to the spa water, which cannot be outsourced'. The new pool can attract a lot of visitors even from another countries.

There are several pool designed specially for divers in Europe, and the most famous one is located in Bruxelles: the Nemo33. It's 33 meters deep and became very popular amongst divers. There are some diving pools in Germany with more underwater attractions, maybe the Y-40 will be good for deep dive trainings and shallow water fun dives as well. Because Montegrotto Terme is not far away from Venice some of the tourist surely will plan a dive here.
