6 days underwater
ArticleA new Guinness World Record for longest freshwater scuba dive.
Jerry Hall is an experienced record breaker, in 2004 he set a 120 hours and 1 minute long record. It was surpassed in 2011 by Allen Sherrod who spent only 13 minutes more underwater. Hall's new record means he dived for more than 6 days! Hall said his accomplishment would not have been possible without the help of his team, which consisted of 23 support divers and various on-shore personnel. Even his girlfriend, Tina visited surprisingly during the long dive. He spent most of his time on the underwater platform and watching movies on a special television set.
The diver said he wouldn't try to set another record: “At my age, I just don’t see that there’s a need. I’ve done it three times, we’ll get a Guinness World Record out of this, so it’s time." In addition to setting the record, Halls said he hopes the dive will aid in raising money, and awareness, for Speedway Children’s Charities.
