Turkey is a country in the Eastern Mediterranean. The majority of the country is located in Western Asia except a small European section. The currency is the Turkish Lira.
Turkey became a popular tourist destination. The world famous Istanbul, Cappadocia or Ephesus and the long shoreline attracts many travellers. The holidaymakers prefer the Bodrum peninsula in the west or the Turkish Riviera in the south. There are several international airports in the country in Istanbul, Ankara, Bodrum, Antalya, etc.
The climate is mild, the summer can be very hot. The best time to visit is from May to October. The sea can be 28-29 degrees warm in August but it's 22-23 even in October. The Black Sea region's climate is colder but it's much less popular amongst divers. There are several diving centers at the Black Sea, in the Istanbul or Izmir area but most of the centers are located in the south.
Bodrum offers reefs and wrecks, recently they sank there boats and a C47 Dakota airplane as artificial reefs. The area of Kas is much praised because of its colorful walls and nice caverns. The very touristic dive centers in the Antalya region often offer daytrips for experienced and beginner divers as well. The diving is a bit cheaper in the country than in the Western Mediterranean. There are several liveaboard boats in the Turkish Riviera which offer more diverse diving experiences.
